Installation instructions for Ultra Flake Grip Finish

SLIP RESISTANT, 5 COAT, UV STABLE SEAMLESS EPOXY SYSTEM

PREPERATION

- Ensure the concrete is sufficiently cured to the recommended minimum of 28 days from completion.

- Diamond grind or Polivac the substrate. The surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from all traces of loose material, old coatings, curing compounds, release agents, laitance, oil, and grease, etc. This must be completed by diamond grinding or a suitable cleaning method.

- To check that all traces of oil and other contaminants have been completely removed, sprinkle a few drops of water over the surface. If all water is quickly absorbed, the surface is sufficiently oil and grease-free.

- If water forms into globules that remain on the surface, further thorough treatment of the substrate is necessary.

- Substrate compression strength should be at least 25MPa, cohesive bond strength at least 1.5MPa, and moisture content below 4%.

- Repair and fill cracks with EPO100EP Epoxy Putty or Concrete Repair Kit.

PRIME COAT

- Apply a prime coat of EPO100T® Tinted Epoxy at a rate of 6m2/L, 10% of 150 Epoxy Thinners is recommended depending on the substrate.

- Leave to cure for approximately 24 hours or until touch dry.

BASE COAT, ULTRA FLAKE AND QUARTZ SHIELD BROADCAST

- Mix in 1.5kg (or 1 Litre) of Quartz Shield per 4.5kg box of Ultra Flake.

Nano Ultra Flake coverage: 10m2/box.

Small Ultra Flake coverage: 15m2/box

Ultra Flake Large and Jumbo are not recommended for this system as the Quartz may show through and change the appearance of the Flake.

If Installed correctly, the system should achieve the following;

- Quartz Shield 25: P5 Slip Rating

- Quartz Shield 40: P4 Slip Rating

- Apply a second coat of EPO100T® Tinted Epoxy at a rate of 6m2/L, 10% of 150 Epoxy Thinners is recommended depending on the substrate.

- Wearing spike shoes and whilst the coating is still wet, broadcast the mix, up and out evenly until refusal, avoid throwing the flake and quartz directly at the floor as you will experience clumping.

- Leave to cure for approximately 24 hours or until touch dry.

Application is based on a full broadcast of Ultra Flake and Quartz Shield. If applying a second coat more than 72 hours after the prime coat, lightly sand the floor prior to application.

Continuously change your position when broadcasting, throwing the flake at a distance may cause the quartz to separate from the flake.

ENTRAPMENT COAT

- Broom the surface to knock off any sharp Flake or Quartz.

- Use a garden blower or vacuum to remove excess and unbound Flakes or Quartz from the surface.

- While wearing spike shoes, apply the Entrapment Coat of Sparta60 Polyaspartic at a rate of 4m2/L.

- Leave to cure for approximately 24 hours or until touch dry.

UV TOP COAT

- Apply the Top Coat of Sparta60 Polyaspartic at a rate of 6m2/L.

- Leave to cure for approximately 24 hours or until touch dry.

- Full chemical cure in 7 days.

Coverage rates may vary depending on the porosity of the substrate.

The UV Top Coat must be applied within 24 hours after the Entrapment Coat. Independent slip testing is to be conducted after application to provide certified documentation that the coating meets or exceeds the required slip rating.
