OUR STORY

Top Shelf Flooring Accessories was founded in 2017 by Stuart Riley, following 17 years working hands-on as a timber floor layer. Having spent nearly two decades on the tools, Stuart understood the flooring industry from an installer’s perspective and had experienced firsthand how difficult it could be to source everything needed for a job from one reliable supplier.

He recognised a significant gap in the market for a specialist flooring store that went beyond simply stocking products — somewhere customers could access a comprehensive range of quality flooring supplies backed by genuine industry knowledge and practical, experience-based advice.

Starting from a small unit, Stuart built Top Shelf around that idea: to create the kind of supplier he would have wanted when he was laying floors himself. As the range, team and customer base grew, Top Shelf expanded to Lambton, opened a second location in West Gosford and later moved its Newcastle operation to its current Georgetown location.

Today, Top Shelf supports professional floor layers, builders, floor sanders, epoxy and decking contractors, as well as DIY customers, with products covering every stage of the job. While the business has grown considerably since 2017, the principle behind it remains the same — quality products, real flooring knowledge and a team that understands what it takes to get the job done properly.

From day one, we knew that the biggest difference between Top Shelf Flooring Accessories and a typical retail store would be the people behind the counter. Our vision has always been to build a team of experienced flooring professionals who have actually worked in the industry, rather than simply selling products from a shelf. That real-world experience allows us to understand the challenges our customers face and recommend solutions with confidence.

  • JENINE - Newcastle Manager

    Jenine manages our Newcastle store and brings a broad range of experience across flooring, business management and accounting. Before joining Top Shelf, she spent nine years with Carpet Choice, gaining valuable knowledge in flooring sales and installation.

    Jenine has also owned and operated several businesses, which has given her strong accounting, administration and management skills. Now in her eighth year with Top Shelf, she has become a key part of the business and has consistently shown an ability to adapt to new products, systems and emerging markets. Her product knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to customer service make her an invaluable resource for both trade and DIY customers.

  • JASON - West Gosford Manager

    Jason manages our West Gosford store and brings extensive experience in flooring retail and store management. Before joining Top Shelf, he spent 19 years working in retail, including managing a carpet store, where he developed strong knowledge of flooring products, customer service and day-to-day store operations.

    Now in his seventh year with Top Shelf, Jason has become a key part of the business. His attention to detail, product knowledge and ability to manage a busy store make him a valuable resource for both DIY customers and professional tradies. He takes the time to understand each project and helps customers choose the right products with confidence.

  • JUSTIN

    Justin has worked alongside Stuart for more than 20 years, from laying timber floors together through to becoming one of the key members of the Top Shelf team. With 13 years of hands-on experience as a professional floor layer, Justin provides practical advice backed by real industry knowledge.

  • BEN

    Ben joined Top Shelf after eight years as a professional floor layer and has become a valued member of our team. His practical installation experience enables him to provide reliable advice and product recommendations based on real job-site experience.

  • TURVEY

    Turvey brings valuable experience from commercial flooring projects, together with strong customer service and technical skills. His knowledge across both the trade and retail sides of the business makes him a key member of the West Gosford team.

  • DAVE

    Dave is an integral part of our Newcastle operation, managing warehousing, stock receivals and deliveries. His organisation and efficiency ensure products are received, stored and delivered reliably, helping keep our customers' projects running on schedule.
